Rydon cluster Year 3 Rounders
The sun failed to make an apperance for this years competition, despite the cold and overcast conditions five teams from four schools fought for this year's title. All teams faced each other in timed innings matches. Some of the matches were very close and this became even clearer as three teams, Ashington, Amberley and West Chiltington B tied for third place with 6 points, First and second place was decided by the two unbeaten teams with West Chiltington A producing some excellent hitting and fielding to beat Washington 7 to 1.5 and finish unbeaten on 12 points, with Wasington on 10 points. Well done to all the players and to the Year 8 sports leaders for umpiring and scoring so well.

Home runs a plenty at Rydon
The Rydon cluster of schools enjoyed a Baseball taster afternoon hosted by Rydon Community college. Fifty four year 4 & 5 pupils enjoyed learning new skills such as catching with a baseball mitt, batting, fielding and running bases. The pupils were then split into teams and played a fun tournament. Many thanks to Paul Taylor and his team of coaches from Horsham District council and the representatives from Horsham Junior Baseball team. It is hoped that this newly established club link will allow the pupils interested to get involved with this sport.

The cluster schools met at Chanctonbury Leisure centre for the Indoor athletics finals. With six schools there were two seperate competitions, one for the smaller schools, Amberley, St.Mary's and Thakeham. The bigger schools comprised West Chiltington, Ashington and Storrington. A great afternoon of competition led to a very close finish where St.Mary's took the small schools titile and Ashington just beat West Chiltington to take the bigger schools title. Many thanks to the Streyning Grammar junior sports leaders for their superb judging, time keeping and certificate awarding.

Rydon Rugby 7's
The annual trek up the Findon Valley saw the schools of the partnership plus invited others make their way to Storrington to take part in the Rydon rugby sevens. Two seperate competitions for year 7 and year 8 began with the early rounds, winners would go forward to the main competition semi finals and the rest went into the plate competition.
The Year 7 plate competition was won by Thomas A Beckett beating The Littlehampton Academy and West Park.
The Year 8 plate competition was dominated by a big Angmering side who defeated Worthing High and Rydon. The year 7 competition saw Windlesham House beat Rydon and Angmering beat Rydon Year 6. In the resulting final Windlesham proved far too strong for Angmering winning 17-0.
The year 8 competition saw The Littlehampton Academy see off Windlesham House in a very close game and Dorset House beat Durrington. Last year's year 7 winners Littlehampton were looking to win for a second year running and scored early, however fine play from Dorset House brought two tries and a 10-5 lead as all kicks were missed. Littlehampton fought back and scored at the death to make the score 10-10. The Littlehampton kicker cooly slotted his kick to give his side a hard fought victory.
Many thanks to Neil Irwin and Lisa Reid for once again hosting a superb competition and to the referees and pupils helpers.

Rydon cluster Gifted & Talented Netball day
The awful weather made no difference to the twenty three year 4 & 5 pupils who attended the Netball day at Chanctonbury Leisure centre in Storrington. The coaches Angela and Tracey worked the pupils hard combining skills practices working towards Netball skill awards and competitive match play. The pupils were a credit to their respective schools and worked very hard. A second day is planned later in the year targeting the same pupils to further their Netball skills. Individual pupils were rewarded for best shooter, best defender, best footwork and most improved player categories.
