LANCING YEAR 4 FUN DAY
On Monday 13th July nearly 250 year 4 pupils visited Boundstone to take part in the fun activities planned ,organised and delivered by the year 10 JSLA students. The Globe and Seaside came in the morning and Sompting Village and North Lancing in the afternoon. The children were mixed up and divided into 6 groups. Each group got to take part in 3 activities from volleyball, basketball, ultimate ball, mini golf, problem solving and fun relays. The JSLAs really put the younger children through their paces making sure that every one was actively involved and having fun. A fantastic day. Well done!

LANCING SCHOOLS ATHLETICS WEDNESDAY 8TH JULY
On a warm sunny gap between thick cloud and torrential downpours we managed to run the athletics meeting (they say it only shines on the righteous!!) using Boundstone's facilities.
Children from years 4,5 and 6 took part in any 3 events from sprints, middle distance, long distance, sprint relays, shuttle relays, long jump and rounders ball throw. Some of the year 6 children had to rush back from Lancing College from their top up swimming in order to take part in the athletics and some of the events were very closely fought in deed.
My thanks to the year 9 students who were roped in at the last minute due to all year 10s having to complete coursework. The year 9s showed excellent maturity and carried out their duties superbly making the afternoons events run smoothly and fairly.
The final positions for the boys were: 4th Seaside 50 points
                                                      3rd Sompting 51 points
Joint 1st North Lancing and The Globe with 57 points

girls         4th Seaside with 44 points
3rd The Globe with 45 points
                                                       2nd Sompting with 53 points
1st North Lancing with 64 points

Therefore the overall placings were Seaside 4th with 94 points
The Globe 3rd with 102 points
                                                   Sompting 2nd with 104
and running away with all three trophies with 121 points were North Lancing ( please could last years winners of the girls trophy see that it is returned to North Lancing and that North Lancing let The Globe have the boys trophy for 6 months)
Well done to all and thank you to Simon from Seaside for doing all the certificates.

FIRST AT SPORT
On Tuesday 30th July in the scorching heat, we held our first competition for Year 2 in the Lancing cluster. Each school sent 5 girls and 5 boys to Boundstone to compete against each other. Every child did 1 run, 1 throw, 1 jump and 1 relay and gained points for each event for their school. Once all the competitive stuff was over and whilst the JSLAs did their adding up, we had time for some fun relays.

All the children coped very well and I think it was a great success. My thanks to the year 10 JSLAs for helping with scoring, measuring and judging and to Chris Blower for his assistance and use of facilities.
Final positions for the formal part of the afternoon were :-
4th North Lancing with 73 points
3rd Seaside with 79 points
2nd Sompting Village with 82 points
1st The Globe with 116points
Every child was presented with a participation certificate.

LANCING SCHOOLS YEAR 6 NETBALL TOURNAMENT
The four Lancing primary schools battled it out at the end of season netball tournament at the Globe on 26th March. Everybody played each other and a good standard of netball was displayed by all. The final match between Seaside (the league winners) and Sompting was vital as neither had lost a game. Seaside had a comfortable lead at the end of the first half but Sompting fought on to the end and were eventually the match and tournament winners. Well done to all who played and thanks to teachers and parents who supported and encouraged. Thanks to The Globe for hosting.
Final results: 4th North Lancing
3rd The Globe
2nd Seaside
1st Sompting Village

BECKHAM ACADEMY
LANCING AND KINGS MANOR CLUSTERS CONVERGE ON THE BECKHAM ACADEMY
On Thursday 19th March selected children from Sompting Village, North Lancing and The Globe schools and due to Seaside not taking up the opportunity St Catherine's from the Chatsmore cluster were able to join us outside Boundstone for an early start off to London. We stopped at Kings Manor to collect the children from Buckingham Park, Glebe, St Nic's and Eastbrook and set off in convoy.

On arrival at the academy the children were wowed by the display of boots, trophies and shirts from David Beckham and other England heroes before they were promptly whisked off to be put in their teams for the day. All the children were mixed up but they jelled really quickly and showed great team spirit. After a multi skills warm up and some competitive activities where the children began to earn points for their teams the real action began.

There was a football tournament as well as some serious work where the children got a taster of some of the other jobs involved with football - sports journalism, physiotherapy, fitness trainers, nutritionists, team manager and scout. These were delivered in a fun and interesting way and again they could earn more points for their team with the work they produced in these sessions. At the end of the day when all the points were tallied together the overall winners were Germany.

It was a fantastic opportunity and the children really got the most out of the day. Three exhausted bus loads of children returned to Adur safe and sound(ly asleep)
Thank you for a brilliant day.

LANCING SCHOOLS MINI NETBALL TOURNAMENT
On Monday 2nd March the year 6 netball teams from the  Lancing primary schools played each other in a mini tournament hosted by The Globe. A great improvement in the standard of play was noted from the previous tournament. Both Sompting Village and Seaside had won both their games so the final match against each other was vital. Seaside were the eventual victors winning 3 goals to 1.
Results were as follows:
4th The Globe
3rd North Lancing with 3 points
2nd  Sompting with 6 points
1st Seaside with 9 points
Thank you to Claire, Nikki and Nic for umpiring the games and to The Globe for hosting and providing fruit at the end. These results completed the second half of the league and the final results for the league were:
4th North Lancing  with 4 points
3rd The Globe with 5 points
2nd Sompting with 10 points
1st Seaside with 15 points

ADUR YEAR 5/6 GIRLS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
Thank you to Tammy Waine for organising this tournament at Buckingham Park for the Shoreham and Lancing schools and arranging for Dan from Sussex FA to coach the teams whilst they were not playing their matches.
A particular thank you to Dan and Sian from Kings Manor sixth form both of whom referred all the matches very competently.

Each team played 5 matches of 15minutes. There were some outstanding individual players on every team and every girl gave of her best !

The final results were: 6th place Glebe
5th place North Lancing
3rd place equal Buckingham Park and St Mary/St Nics
The Globe and Eastbrook both ended up with 13 points having won against every other team and drawing against each other. Which meant that the final match of the day between Eastbrook and Glebe was vital. Eventually 2nd place was awarded to Eastbrook as they conceded 2 goals and the Globe only conceded 1 and were the winners. Eastbrook were the winners of the Shoreham schools trophy and the Globe were the winners of the Lancing schools trophy as well as overall Adur champions.

Well done everyone
