Nip and Tuck all the wayOn Thursday 11th February Durrington cluster held its annual indoor athletics Heats . Amidst a crescendo of cheering interluded occasionally by Lady Ga Ga , pupils from years 5,6 and 7 ran ,jumped and threw their hearts out ! There were some excellent performances which impressed the Secondary PE staff and demonstrated that this event is still a priority for staff in the busy sporting calendar.
Points were extremely close throughout the competition and at one stage only two points separated first and second place. A Big thank you to all staff for supporting the event , sports leaders from the High school for officiating and to sarah Povey, Nick Roberts , Jon Mills and Pete Gwynn for their assistance …as always !
Final points were as follows
1st West Park 378
2nd Orchards 364
3rd Durrington Middle 310
4th Sion 244

Talented and Gifted MorningFriday 2nd Oct 9.00-12.00 yr6/7 Talented and Gifted Morning at Durrington High school. Pupils will receive specialist coaching in either; Dance , Gymnastics, Rugby or Basketball. Schools to select 6 pupils for each activity and submit names to Ali at the partnership office by 25th September. Thank you

Yr1 Multi skills FestivalThe Durington cluster Year 1 Multi skills festival took
place at West Park on a lovely Summers afternoon in July
2009!
Under the watchful eyes of Year 7 Sports Leaders from West
Park the year1 s participated in a selection of
running,jumping and throwing activities. Pupils scored
points for their school in each of the events which were
added
together at the end ! Overall winners of this years
competition were Durrington First School.
Many thanks to all staff,parents and pupils who supported
this event and especially to Stacy Harber from West Park who
helped despite it being Ofsted !!

Rising Starz !!Rizing Starz !
In the last week of term Year 4 Talented and Gifted pupils
from across the Durrington family enjoyed a day of PE at
Durrington High school. The Pupils who had met regularly
throughout the year joined together for a day of further
coaching in Rugby, Gymnastics, striking and fielding and
Team building activities. Pupils gained alot from the
experience and continued to develop and extend their
sporting prowess.
Thanks to all the Headteachers for supporting this annual
event

DURRINGTON MIDDLE WIN THE SHIELD INDOOR ATHLETICSA throng of competitors and supporters filled Worthing leisure Centre on Tuesday 10th March for the annual Indoor Athletics Shield Finals. Pupils from Sion, Chatsmore, Downsbrook, Vale and Durrington Middle competed in a plethora of indoor athletic events trying to win the coveted shield trophy.

DURRINGTON FIRST VAULTS TO SUCCESSOn Friday 30th January, Yr 3/4 pupils from Durrington First, English Martyrs, West Park, Orchards and Field Place competed in Durrington cluster’s annual gym competition. Pupils learnt a key steps floor sequence and vault at a workshop then practised back in their schools prior to the competition.
Pupils performed in front of a throng of parents, teachers and friends and were judged by qualified gymnastic judges from Durrington High.
An enjoyable afternoon was had by all. Thanks to Sam Wilcox for her excellent teaching and organisation on the day, Freda Bussey for co-ordinating efforts at Durrington, to the JSLA judges, to all staff for preparing the pupils as well and finally to all the pupils for their excellent gymnastic skills. Overall results:
1st Durrington First A - who will represent the Durrington cluster in the Partnership finals

YEAR 6/7 TALENTED AND GIFTEDLast Thursday pupils from West Park, English Martyrs, Durrington Middle and Orchards enjoyed a morning of volleyball, gymnastics, dance and rugby at Durrington High School.

DURRINGTON DANCE FESTIVALThis year Durrington cluster held it’s first ever dance festival. Watched by parents, teachers and other participants, pupils submitted pieces ranging from a Yr1 student performing an Irish Jig through to Yr11 male GCSE Dancers who have secured places a the Laban School of Dance. An enjoyable evening was had by all thanks to Mrs Swift, Mr Davies and all staff from participating schools who made the event possible.
