Parasport is a web based programme designed to inspire, inform, educate and signpost disabled people and those interested in disability sport to high quality opportunities.

Parasport is a partnership between ParalympicsGB and professional services firm Deloitte.

Parasport has 6 main areas of work….

The Wizard allows users to input a disability and find sports suitable for them to participate in. We have taken the IPC Classifications which can be hard to understand and rewritten them in an easy to understand way. Many disabled people are unsure of their actual disability /classification.

The Club Search Facility allows users to enter their postcode and find high quality clubs/facilities local to them. Users can also filter the search by distance and sport. Accessibility to clubs is one of the major barriers to participation. Users can also upload their own club data with our ‘Club Up Load’ facility.

Parasport have created widgets for the Classification Wizard and the Club Search Facility that can be embedded on any website. This way anyone can benefit from using the facilities Parasport has created on their own site to help increase awareness and promote further opportunities. The Widgets can be requested from the Parasport website.

The News and Events section allows users to promote news and events on the site and help build an online community sharing news, stories and experiences. Parasport also has a monthly newsletter and users can upload their own events using the ‘Event Up Load’ facility.

The Volunteering, Coaching and Skills development sections of the site allow users to find information on other sport related opportunities as not all users will want to participate; or some will want to develop their participation to gain new skills.

Playground to Podium is a joint National Programme with Sport England, Youth Sport Trust and The English Federation for Disability Sport. The aims are to get all disabled children active in schools and signpost them all to local opportunities whilst identifying those with higher ability.

Parasport works with the ParalympicsGB Performance Team to support all areas of the Talent programme. By identifying potential at grass-roots Parasport can then support people to become the best that they can be through a pathway of development.
