Southern Area Partnership - Details
The partnerships' overall aim is to help schools to ensure that their pupils spend a minimum of two hours each week on high quality PE and school sport. Seven outcomes have been targeted:
The partnership receives a grant each year which pays for:
- Increased participation in high quality PE
- Increased participation in high quality out of school hours learning
- Increased participation in high quality competition and performance
- Increased participation in high quality informal physical activity
- Increased attainment and achievement in and through PE, OSHL and sport
- Improved attitude, behaviour and attendance through PE, OSHL and sport
- Increased participation in community based sport and improved quality of community life
The partnership receives a grant each year which pays for:
- A full time Partnership Development Manager
- The release of one teacher from each secondary school who takes on the role of School Sports Co-ordinator (SSCO)
- The release of one teacher from each primary school for ten days a year to allow them to become Primary Link Teachers (PLTs)
- Specialist Link Teachers (SLTs) who fill the gaps created by teacher release
